Terms for using the Domains Portal

These terms apply when you use the Vigo Domains Portal to search for, register, transfer, renew or obtain information about a domain name.

The portal is operated by The Vigo Group Pty Ltd (ACN 130 524 346). These terms supplement The Vigo Group's general Terms of Service and the terms that apply to domain services provided through TPP Wholesale and the relevant registrar or registry.

What the portal provides

The Domains Portal provides a Vigo-operated front end for selected domain services. You can use it to:

  • check whether a supported domain appears available for registration;
  • view Vigo retail pricing and available registration terms;
  • check limited transfer or renewal information for some existing domains;
  • continue to the upstream domain-management platform to complete registration, transfer, renewal or account activity; and
  • run selected public DNS and email trust checks.

Availability and readiness information shown in the portal is a point-in-time pre-check. A search result does not reserve a domain or guarantee that a registration, transfer or renewal will be accepted.

Domain registration is a licence

Registering a domain name gives the registrant a licence to use that domain for the applicable registration period, subject to the rules of the relevant namespace. It does not give the registrant legal ownership of the domain name.

For .au domain names, the auDA Licensing Rules expressly provide that a licence confers no proprietary rights in the domain name. Other namespaces are subject to their own registry and registrar rules.

Availability and registration

A domain shown as available may become unavailable before an order is completed. Registration is only complete when the order has been accepted and the domain licence or registration has been successfully created through the relevant registrar and registry.

Do not rely on an availability result as confirmation that you have secured the domain.

Eligibility and namespace rules

Each domain namespace may have its own eligibility, allocation and use requirements. This is particularly important for .au names, where applicants must satisfy the applicable eligibility and allocation requirements and remain eligible throughout the licence period.

The Domains Portal may help you start the registration process, but it does not determine whether you satisfy every legal or policy requirement applying to a requested name. You are responsible for ensuring that information supplied for registration is accurate and that you meet the applicable requirements.

Pricing

Prices shown in the Domains Portal are Vigo standard retail prices for supported self-service domain extensions at the time of the search and include GST where applicable.

Pricing may depend on the extension, registration period and registry classification of the requested name. Registry-designated premium domain names may be priced differently from standard registrations.

Where the upstream checkout presents a different price or term, review that information before placing the order. No order is placed merely by using the Vigo search or availability check.

Continuing to domain services

When you choose to register, transfer, renew or manage a domain, you leave the public Vigo Domains Portal and continue through the TPP Wholesale domain-management environment.

Your domain service is then subject to the applicable Vigo Terms of Service, TPP Wholesale Service Terms and registration terms, the rules and policies of the relevant registrar or registry, and for .au domains, the applicable auDA rules and policies.

Transfers and renewals

Transfer and renewal information shown in the portal is intended to help identify an appropriate next step. A domain shown as potentially transferable or renewable may still require additional information, authorisation, eligibility checks, payment or approval through the upstream provider.

DNS, email and domain governance

Domain registration does not automatically include changes to DNS, email configuration, organisational ownership arrangements or broader domain-governance controls. Where Vigo provides those services, their scope will be agreed separately or described in the applicable service arrangement.

Do not make DNS, nameserver, email authentication or ownership changes unless you understand the effect on services that rely on the domain.

Public trust information

The Domains Portal may display selected publicly observable DNS and email signals through the Quick Domain Trust Snapshot. These results are informational and point-in-time. They are not a complete security assessment, compliance certification or guarantee that a domain, website or email environment is secure.

See the Disclaimer for the limitations of the information shown by the portal.

Consumer rights

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right, guarantee or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law.

Questions and support

If a result appears incorrect, you are unsure about eligibility, or you need help with a registration, transfer or renewal, contact Vigo Support before proceeding.
